Goodbye 2009

Well I guess this is it...my very last post of the year. 2009 for me has had it's ups and downs but those ups and downs are what has helped make me who I am. I have an amazing family, a wonderful husband, two beautiful children and some of the most amazing friends a person could ever be lucky enough to have..some are old friends, some are new, all of which however, I am truly greatful for.

Happy New Year everyone...I wish nothing but the best for each and everyone of you in 2010.

Sending my love to Utah

Friends come and go..however true friends...and I mean truly amazing friends stay a life time. I have been blessed with someone whom I know will remain in my heart forever as my bestfriend, even though we are thousand of miles apart.

Sarah, I know that this time of year is hard for you but you are an amazing person who can get through anything..this I've witnessed. If I was half the person you are, I'd be a stronger and more compassionate person. I can honestly say that our friendship is part of what makes me who I am today. We met, became instant friends and then after some time of talking and getting to know one another, we learned that we shared a bond that not too many can say..our parents grew up together.

I believe things in life happen for a reason...our friendship has happened for a reason. I wish I could be there for you during this time of year, to help you out when and where needed but since it is not possible to be there in person, know that I am with you in thought. I wish nothing but the absolute best for your amazing family. We were brought together as friends...but Sarah..I consider you my sister.

Fox's dentist experience #3

Fox had another dentist appt today..his 3rd one ever. This time though they found a little tiny "hole"..they said it wasn't from lack of brushing and that he had very beautiful teeth, it was just a little part of the tooth that didn't develop properly so right then and there..it was fixed. No needles. No freezing, just a little pick, some goop and voila..all is fixed.

Kids say the funniest things...

I recently had an operation and so my mom came to stay with me for the week. I have my way of cleaning things and doing stuff and she has hers..however..to my 4 year old son Fox, this is not how things should be. My mom was in the middle of moving something somewhere for me when all of the sudden Fox came running in the room yelling that Nanny was doing it wrong. When I explained to him that it was ok, he quickly replied "no it's not alright".

All grown up...or atleast getting there.

Well, my baby boy Fox started preschool this year. He started the countdown practically the day he found out he'd be going. He goes Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday mornings from 9:15am to 11:30am and travels by a big red van-bus driven by a man all the kids call Pappa Smurf. I was able to go the first day so that I could get a feel of the place, the teachers, Pappa Smurf :) As I sat back in the little wooden chairs at the little wooden tables, it dawned on me that Fox was growing up, that he was not my little boy anymore...he was my big boy. I was never more proud to be Fox's mom then I was that day.

My baby boy

So as many of you know, Fox has been suffering from stomach cramps for almost a year now. He's even been admitted once and almost had surgery. We finally got him in to see a gastro doctor and after examining him, they are thinking he may have celiac disease, which if this is the case, is really scary cause Fox is such a fussy eater that all Phil and I can think about his him not eating anything and getting even sicker. We don't know if this is what he has for sure, he needs to go for a biopsy on his stomach sometime between now and Christmas..just waiting to hear from the hospital...I guess all we can do is pray for the best and if this is the case and Fox has celiac disease, we'll just end up taking it one day at a time.

Pictures of my angels =)

Daddy tried to share some of Nevada's popcycle with her...she's wasn't having that so she fought him..lol This picture is of Fox and his Uncle Josh.

I just loved this picture of my little princess so I've added it :)

This picture is of Fox and his Grampy George and Nanny Barb. Unfortunately Nevada was not in the picture...she was playing shy when it came to Grampy and kept shooting him the evil eye if he even walked by her.

Moving ... not moving...???

So we've been switching back and forth from are we gonna move to no we are not. This past month it had been decided that we were gonna go, family was told and so on...however we were quickly delt with a thorn in our plan..hubby's work doesn't do transfers...even though the company he works for is amalgamated with not only Canada but the USA as well...so now we are not sure what to do. We don't want to just pack up and go in the hopes that the company will hire him yet if he just sends his resume the way they want..then we have to come up with the funds to get him there if he is chosen for an interview AS WELL as come up with the funds to get us all there as a family. It just seems that every time we finally make a decision to do something, something gets thrown in our paths that throws us off course. So..I guess all I can say is..I'll keep you posted :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEVADA

Well today is my baby's birthday..although technically she is no longer a baby..she is a toddler. Two years ago today, our lives were blessed once again with the birth of our daughter Nevada. She has so many people who love and care for her...I only wish her and Fox had the chance to meet their nanny Deborah. Although today is Nevada's day...our thoughts are always with their nanny who is no longer with us but deep in our hearts.

I love my life

"I wanna make you smile whevever you are sad,

carry you around when your arthristis is bad,

Oh all I wanna do, is grow old with you.

I'll get you medicine when your tummy aches,

build you a fire if the furnace breaks.

Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you.

I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold.

I need you, feed you,

even let you hold the remote control.

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink,

put you to be when you've had too much to drink,

oh I could be the man, who grows old with you

I wanna grow old with you."

So very lost right now...

When I decided to start this blog..it was for the purpose of my friends and family to always be able to see my kids as they grow up. Never in a million years did I ever expect to have life throw such a curve to me. I've been told by many to just hand my problems over to God..so I did and to be honest..I wish I never have for the result is not what I expected nor wanted. I know that things will work out in the end...it's the inbetween that is going to be the hardest to over come.

So Fox has been after his daddy forever to shave his head so they can look alike...well...we did...sort of. Here is the end result. So as you can see..it's a little different than his daddy's but it's still really cute.

We tried to get him to pose for us..lol.

PS: Sarah, this is more for you...just so you don't forget what I look like ;)...and I know...maybe next time I could smile..lol.

The picture on top and on the left was taken yesterday and the one on the right..or depending on how this gets displayed, the one with more color to it..lol..was taken a few months ago..lol.

Just some more random pics of our kids

I love taking Fox and Nevada's pictures. They are always surprising me with just how amazingly beautiful they really truly are, inside and out!

I caught Nevada asleep in her high chair so I got in as close to her as possible and took this one.

I caught Fox sleeping in his toy box of all places...lol. How could I even consider passing on this photo??

Nevada has always loved wearing her big brother's bike helmet, even if it's miles too big for her..she is still pretty cute.

I think Fox has the most amazingly blue eyes ever and when he wears a blue sweater, they are even more intense!

One of the scariest day of our lives.

Last week, our 3 1/2 year old son woke up with pains in his stomach..which isn't abnormal for him. He's recently started taking Lacteeze pills for an allergy to milk...anyways, we knew it was something more when he was sitting in his daddy's arms and his entire body went limp. We called his name a few times without a response so we got ready and took him straight to the IWK Children's Hospital. I'm not even sure if he slept the entire way there or was passing out.

We got to the hospital, was sitting in the waiting room after registering when I had to get him reassessed cause his heart beat was beating so strong and fast that I literally could feel it through all his clothes, all my clothes and jackets. The nurse checked him and sent us back to a room right away. He was so lethargic during this whole time that it was like moving a body that was in a really deep sleep.

They did some blood work, which showed his white blood count as being either 17 or 27..I heard two different numbers so I'm not sure....anyways, we knew he had an infection but where? The x-ray they did showed nothing so they decided to do an ultrasound. After the technician was done, she left the room and then the doctor came in, which more or less told me they saw something so I asked. She told me they were looking at his appendix and that he had appendicitis. HE IS ONLY 3!!! She said that it was looking very irritated and was surrounded by a huge amount of liquid and this liquid was very thick.

We went back to our room and they immediately began prepping him for surgery...which was so hard. They had to try to get his IV in twice cause his vein popped and he just cried...which made me cry cause I couldn't confort him...all I could do was stand there by his side and let him know I wasn't going anywhere. This broke my heart..not being able to comfort my little man. Anyways, they finally got it in and he was out of it again only this time when the surgeons came in to do their assessment, he didn't even budge. They poked and prodded his stomach but because he didn't show any signs of pain while they were doing this, they were not convinced he had appendicitis and opted not to operate. He was however admitted for observation.

Blood work was done again the next morning, which showed his white blood count to have gone down. They were going to discharge him then but I said no, I didn't want him going without knowing what was causing my son this pain. They kept him in another night, did more blood work that would look deeper into things but that came back normal so they had no choice but to release him...so we left WITHOUT ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS. They told us that if he gets like that again to bring him back.

It's all so frustrating cause nobody wants to see a child suffer, especially when it's your own. I just wish we knew what was wrong with our little man and what is causing him this pain!

The newest Thorne on our bush...

So today we went out and bought Fox and Nevada their very first pet. We figured that since Phil is allergic to just about everything under the sun, the safest pet would be a fish. We would like to introduce you all to the newest member of our family, the newest Thorne on our bush...CAT. That's right, our fish's name is CAT...name was picked by our 3 year old Fox.

Leaving behind bum tracks

Fox was outside playing in the snow yesterday...well I should rephrase that...he was outside playing in the ice cause the snow was so hard and icy and he could walk on it without breaking through..anyways, because of this he was unable to make snow angels so instead, he decided he was going to jump in the air and just land on his bum..he did this for the first time, turned to his Daddy and said "Look Daddy, Fox's bum hole"...I thought this was just too darn cute so I recorded him doing it...lol.

I was able to get some "birds eye view" pictures of his "bum holes"...how cute are those little holes in the snow...it's like he was trying to make his own little burrow..lol.

Imaginary friends

So Fox has his first official imaginary friend and it's the cutest thing cause the reality of it is...it's his reflection. He noticed it the other day while in the family washroom at WalMart..he was sitting on the bench waiting for me to finish changing his sisters diaper when he noticed his reflection and informed me that he could see a friend. I asked him what this friends name was and he said "F. U. X". It's all letters...you have to say the letters to actually say the name so my son FOX has an imaginary friend named F. U. X. He notices him everywhere now and it's the cutes thing ever!

Music to our ears....

So Phil went out the other day and bought a cheap little music set that had a single drum, two little egg shaped shakers, tamborine and a harmonica. Fox and Nevada loved it and instantly took to playing music for us. Fox had no problems playing any of the intruments, Nevada either however it took her a little bit to get use to the harmonica but as you can see from the videos..she's a pro now..lol.

Here is Fox playing his new drum...he even has a bit of instructions on what you should and shouldn't hit with the drum sticks..lol. Such a cutie if I do say so myself.
